Rumble Fish

Overall, Rumble Fish was fantastically written and symbolized how violence won't solve anything and will have consequences. I normally don't read realistic fiction and am a dystopian/fantasy lover, but decided to try this book out. The main reason why I'm giving this book 3 stars is that after reading for a while, I got bored with the story. One thing, I really hate about some books is that their summary gives away spoilers and this was seen in this book.  Uhhh!  The book starts out with the main character, Rusty-James having a surprising run-in with his former best friend. They both discuss their current lives and how Rusty-James received scars. The story then goes back in time when Rusty- James was 14 years old and a tragic accident occurs. Rumble Fish is a perfect book for a middle school class. It is violent and has a few inappropriate comments, but the book has symbolism, foreshadowing, and shows the difficulties of life.
